Portrait of Dr. Sally Minkovich, PsyD

Maybe you're the person who looks like they've got it together, but inside you're anxious, overwhelmed, overthinking everything, or wondering why something that shouldn't feel this hard feels so hard. If that sounds familiar, you're in good company here.

I don't believe therapy should feel like sitting across from someone waiting for you to say the “right” thing. I want our work to feel collaborative, curious, and practical. We'll make sense of what's happening, notice the patterns that keep getting in your way, and figure out what you actually want to do differently.

I've always been fascinated by the space between knowing what we want to do and actually being able to do it. As a psychologist, I've become especially drawn to helping kids, adolescents, and young adults navigate anxiety, self-doubt, relationships, and the complicated process of figuring out who they're becoming.

A lot of our work often comes back to emotions: learning to notice them earlier, ride out the big ones without being run by them, and respond in a way that fits the moment. Regulating emotions is a skill, not a personality trait, and it can absolutely be learned at any age.

Outside of the office, you'll usually find me with my family, working on some overly ambitious creative project, or convincing myself that this is finally the year I become someone who meal preps.

My Training

I completed my doctoral training at La Salle University, after a master's degree at Teachers College, Columbia University. Along the way I trained in a boarding school, a psychiatric inpatient hospital, two university counseling centers, and a large community mental health system, which is a long way of saying I've sat with people in a lot of very different moments.

I completed my postdoctoral training at the University of Pennsylvania's Outpatient Psychiatry Center, then stayed on as a staff psychologist and as a clinical supervisor to the next generation of psychology students.

I'm extensively trained in cognitive behavioral therapy, dialectical behavior therapy, and exposure therapy, and I'm a certified prolonged exposure therapist and consultant. The credentials matter, but what they really mean is that you're getting care that's been tested, not improvised.
